ऐसी हरि करत दासपर प्रीति। निज प्रभुता बिसारि जनके बस, होत सदा यह रीति॥ १॥ जिन बाँधे सुर-असुर, नाग-नर, प्रबल करमकी डोरी। सोइ अबिछिन्न ब्रह्म जसुमति हठि बाँध्यो सकत न छोरी॥ २॥ जाकी मायाबस बिरंचि सिव, नाचत पार न पायो। करतल ताल बजाय ग्वाल-जुवतिन्ह सोइ नाच नचायो॥ ३॥ बिस्वंभर, श्रीपति, त्रिभुवनपति, बेद-बिदित यह लीख। बलिसों कछु न चली प्रभुता बरु ह्वै द्विज माँगी भीख॥ ४॥ जाको नाम लिये छूटत भव-जनम-मरन दुख-भार। अंबरीष-हित लागि कृपानिधि सोइ जनमे दस बार॥ ५॥ जोग-बिराग, ध्यान-जप-तप-करि, जेहि खोजत मुनि ग्यानी। बानर-भालु चपल पसु पामर, नाथ तहाँ रति मानी॥ ६॥ लोकपाल, जम, काल, पवन, रबि, ससि सब आग्याकारी। तुलसिदास प्रभु उग्रसेनके द्वार बेंत कर धारी॥ ७॥
Such is the love Hari bears his servant: forgetting his own lordship, he comes under his servant’s sway—this is forever his way. (1) He bound gods, demons, serpents, and humans with the mighty cord of karma; yet Yashoda forcibly bound that same indivisible Brahman, and he could not free himself. (2) Brahma and Shiva, under the sway of his maya, danced without finding its limit; yet the young cowherd women clapped their hands and made that very Lord dance. (3) Supporter of the universe, Lord of Shri, Lord of the three worlds—this decree is known from the Vedas; yet his lordship availed nothing with Bali: becoming a brahmin, he begged for alms. (4) Taking his Name frees one from the heavy pain of becoming, birth, and death; yet for Ambarisha’s sake that very Treasury of Grace was born ten times. (5) Wise sages seek him through yoga, detachment, meditation, recitation, and austerity; yet, Master, he placed his love among fickle monkeys and bears, lowly beasts. (6) World-guardians, Yama, Time, wind, sun, and moon all obey him; yet, Tulsidas says, the Lord stood at Ugrasena’s door holding a staff. (7)
