कृपा सो धौं कहाँ बिसारी राम। जेहि करुना सुनि श्रवन दीन-दुख, धावत हौ तजि धाम॥ १॥ नागराज निज बल बिचारि हिय, हारि चरन चित दीन्हों। आरत गिरा सुनत खगपति तजि, चलत बिलंब न कीन्हों॥ २॥ दितिसुत-त्रास-त्रसित निसिदिन प्रहलाद-प्रतिग्या राखी। अतुलित बल मृगराज-मनुज-तनु दनुज हत्यो श्रुति साखी॥ ३॥ भूप-सदसि सब नृप बिलोकि प्रभु, राखु कह्यो नर-नारी। बसन पूरि, अरि-दरप दूरि करि, भूरि कृपा दनुजारी॥ ४॥ एक एक रिपुते त्रासित जन, तुम राखे रघुबीर। अब मोहिं देत दुसह दुख बहु रिपु कस न हरहु भव-पीर॥ ५॥ लोभ-ग्राह, दनुजेस-क्रोध, कुरुराज-बंधु खल मार। तुलसिदास प्रभु यह दारुन दुख भंजहु राम उदार॥ ६॥
Rama, where have you forgotten that grace by which, when your ears hear the suffering of the lowly, you leave your abode and run to them? (1) The king of elephants considered his own strength in his heart, despaired, and fixed his mind on your feet. Hearing his anguished cry, you left the king of birds and set out without delay. (2) Prahlada, terrified night and day by the demon’s menace—you kept your pledge to him. In the matchlessly powerful body of lion and man you slew the demon; revelation is the witness. (3) In the royal assembly, seeing all the kings, a helpless woman cried, ‘Lord, protect me!’ You supplied her robe, destroyed her enemy’s pride, and showed abundant grace, Foe of demons. (4) Each of these servants was frightened by a single enemy, and you protected them, Raghubira. Now many enemies inflict unbearable pain on me—why do you not remove the anguish of becoming? (5) Greed is the crocodile, anger the demon-lord, and lust the wicked ally of the Kuru king. Tulsidas prays: Lord, break this terrible suffering, generous Rama. (6)
