I have spent myself dancing night and day. Ever since I bore the name of a living being, I have not become steady in Hari. (1) Filled with many desires, wearing varied costumes and ornaments such as greed—in moving and unmoving forms, in sky, water, and land, what disguise have I not assumed? (2) Among gods, demons, sages, serpents, and humans, no one escaped my begging; yet not one of them removed my unbearable poverty, faults, and pain. (3) Eyes, feet, hands, sound judgment, and strength are weary; every companion has parted. Now your servant has come for refuge in Raghunatha, stricken and terrified by the fear of becoming. (4) I have forgotten every quality by which you are pleased and brought under love’s sway. Tulsidas prays: Lord, grant me a place to lie and remain at the door of your own dwelling. (5)
