तौ तू पछितैहै मन मींजि हाथ। भयो है सुगम तोको अमर-अगम तन, समुझिधौं कत खोवत अकाथ॥ १॥ सुख-साधन हरिबिमुख बृथा जैसे श्रम फल घृतहित मथे पाथ। यह बिचारि, तजि कुपथ-कुसंगति चलि सुपंथ मिलि भले साथ॥ २॥ देखु राम-सेवक, सुनि कीरति, रटहि नाम करि गान गाथ। हृदय आनु धनुबान-पानि प्रभु, लसे मुनिपट, कटि कसे भाथ॥ ३॥ तुलसिदास परिहरि प्रपंच सब, नाउ रामपद-कमल माथ। जनि डरपहि तोसे अनेक खल, अपनाये जानकीनाथ॥ ४॥

Then, mind, you will repent, wringing your hands. This body, inaccessible even to the immortals, has become available to you; tell me, why do you senselessly waste it? (1) Means of happiness pursued while turned from Hari are futile—like laboring to churn water for ghee. Reflect on this: abandon the bad road and bad company; walk the good path and join good companions. (2) Look upon Rama’s servants, listen to his fame, repeat his Name, and sing his story. Bring into your heart the Lord with bow and arrow in hand, radiant in an ascetic’s cloth, a quiver fastened at his waist. (3) Tulsidas, set aside every entanglement and bow your head to the lotus feet of Rama. Do not be afraid: Janaki’s Lord has made his own many villains like you. (4)
