Beloved, cherished Lakshmana, you work for your people's good. Remembered, you remove calamity and bring every blessed good; compassionate guardian, you keep your own pledge. (1) Bearer of the earth and breaker of the world's burden, courageous incarnation of the thousand-hooded serpent; true to your word and vow, wholly devoted to highest dharma, your deeds, speech and mind are stainless. (2) Treasure of beauty, bow and arrow in hand and quiver at your waist, renowned great hero and victor in mighty battles; giver of joy to servants, powerful and capable of all, singer of Janaki's Lord's virtues. (3) Dear to Bharata, darling of Sumitra and Sita, discerning chakor bird of Rama, the dark cloud; beloved of Urmila, easily won by love, rich in giving the wealth of devotion to a pauper like Tulsi.
