Mighty son of the Wind, beloved of Raghubira, whatever you wish to do to me, brother, do it now. (1) By your majesty even tamarind seeds can pass as coin. Why, illuminator of the three worlds, is there darkness when my turn comes? (2) For what deed did you recognize me as your servant and honor me? For what sin or fault have you now cast me from your hand? (3) Begging scraps from door to door, I have always taken your name. By your strength—blessed be you—I have lived awake in the world until today. (4) If I were to turn away from you, it would be because my heart had another object. Then why should I show you my face and speak these dear words? (5) Who besides you, treasury of knowledge, is all-knowing, brother? I understand that the fate of one who betrays his master is ashes and ruin. (6) Your master is Rama and your mistress Sita. There, whom and what besides you can Tulsi look toward for support? (7)
