देव बड़े, दाता बड़े, संकर बड़े भोरे। किये दूर दुख सबनिके, जिन्ह-जिन्ह कर जोरे॥ १॥ सेवा, सुमिरन, पूजिबौ, पात आखत थोरे। दिये जगत जहँ लगि सबै, सुख, गज, रथ, घोरे॥ २॥ गाँव बसत बामदेव, मैं कबहूँ न निहोरे। अधिभौतिक बाधा भई, ते किंकर तोरे॥ ३॥ बेगि बोलि बलि बरजिये, करतूति कठोरे। तुलसी दलि, रूध्यो चहैं सठ साखि सिहोरे॥ ४॥
Great is the god, great the donor, and greatly innocent is Shankara. He removed the sorrow of every person who folded hands before him. (1) Service, remembrance and worship cost only a few leaves and grains of rice; in exchange he gave all the world's happiness, elephants, chariots and horses. (2) O Vamadeva, I live in your town and have never petitioned you. Now an affliction from the material powers has arisen, and those powers are your servants. (3) Call them quickly and restrain their cruel conduct - I offer myself to you. The rogues wish to crush the tulsi plant and plant a branch of sihora in its place. (4)
