O divine Sun, compassionate to the poor, sages, human beings, gods and demons all serve you. (1) Garlanded with rays, you are a lion to the elephants of frost and darkness, burning away faults, suffering, sin and the host of diseases. (2) You illumine chakravaka birds, lotuses and the worlds; you are a treasury of radiance, majesty, beauty and delight. (3) Your charioteer is lame, yet you travel in a divine chariot; Lord, you are the embodied form of Hari, Shankara and the Creator. (4) Your manifest fame shines in the Vedas and Puranas. Tulsidas asks you for the boon of devotion to Rama. (5)
