आतां मी पतित ऐसा साच भावें । कळों अनुभवें आलें देवा ॥1॥

English Translation

Now I have come to know through experience that I am truly fallen, O Lord. Whatever You would do, do it now and openly; let nothing remain unsettled between us. To give each side an equal hearing requires no further witness. Says Tuka, I am dying in the telling; now at last let that much be clear to You.

What it means

Tukaram brings his case to God and asks for it to be closed, not softened. He no longer pleads innocence; he has come to know firsthand that he is fallen, and he wants the matter settled openly rather than left hanging between them. He says no third party need testify, because the two of them already see the whole of it. The urgency is real: he says he is dying even as he speaks, worn out by the long telling. The prayer is for resolution itself, for God to act at last and let the truth between them stand plain.
