English Translation

Eating, wearing, giving, all accounts are in Your name. Now the turmoil of profit and loss has ceased. Whether something exists or not, our only task is to report it to You. Says Tuka, the burden of all worry rests upon Your head.

We ask forgiveness for any inaccuracies in rendering Tukaram ji’s original Marathi.

In Plain Words

Eating, wearing, giving: every account is in your name. Now the struggle of reckoning is over, the noise of profit and loss. Whether a thing exists or not, our only job is to report it to you. Tuka says: the weight of worry rests on your head.

What it means

Tukaram turns the whole ledger of his life over to God. Food, clothing, gifts, all of it is entered in Vitthal's name, not his own, so the anxious accounting of gain and loss falls silent. His only remaining task is to report what comes and goes; he no longer has to manage outcomes. The burden of worry he sets squarely on God's head. This is surrender made concrete, in the plain terms of household bookkeeping.
