English Translation
The unstruck sound resonates in every body, yet without Rama's name on the tongue, how can one be saved? God truly dwells in every living being, but without seeing Him, the other shore is never reached. Knowledge exists in everyone, this is certain, yet without devotion that very knowledge does not become Brahman. What use are mystical gestures and spoken instructions when the lamp of transcendence has not been lit? Says Tuka, do not try to establish God through mere bodily nurturing; Narayana cannot be grasped that way.

In Plain Words
The unstruck sound flows in every body. But without Rama on the tongue, how does one cross over? God truly dwells in every living being. But without seeing Him, no one crosses. Knowledge is in everyone, this is true. But without devotion, that knowledge is not Brahman. What use are the gestures you have learned, the instructions you can recite, when the inner lamp has not been lit? Tuka says: do not try to keep God by tending the body. Narayana cannot be held that way.
What it means
Tukaram concedes every claim the yogic and philosophical paths make, then says each is incomplete without the Name and love. Yes, the unstruck inner sound sounds in all, God lives in all, knowledge is latent in all; but a latent truth no one has actually realized saves no one. He names the gap with a sharp image: knowing the gestures and reciting the instructions while the inner lamp stays dark. The corrective is not more technique but devotion, Rama's name on the tongue, the actual seeing of God. The closing warning is against the subtle trap of treating spiritual discipline as the maintenance of a body or a method; Narayana is not gripped by such effort, He is reached through love.
The Power of the Name
The supremacy of nama-smarana: God's name as the highest practice.
