English Translation

The meal of peace tosses the low high and the high low, like the play of a fountain. That tender warmth is one's own true welfare. Let all imagination, apart from God, make no division elsewhere. Says Tuka, the certainty that reaches into all beings has been measured out and settled.

We ask forgiveness for any inaccuracies in rendering Tukaram ji’s original Marathi.

In Plain Words

The meal of peace tosses the low up high and the high down low, like the play of a fountain. That tender warmth is your own true welfare. Let no imagining, apart from God, make any division anywhere else. Tuka says: the certainty that reaches into all beings has been measured out and settled.

What it means

Tukaram pictures peace as a feeding fountain that overturns the usual ranking of high and low, lifting what was low and lowering what was high. That tender warmth, he says, is what truly serves you. The instruction at the center is to let the mind invent no divisions except as it rests in God. He closes with a settled certainty: the same reality reaches into every being, and this has already been measured out and fixed, not left in doubt.
