Fresh English translation

The Lord and Lāḍilī plunge delightedly into the mind-like water and devise their playful wonder. A joyful art of water-sport begins: lotus-hands fling water and supple companions toss lotuses so that bees fly up humming, a sight before which even poetic Sarasvatī dances. It is as if full moons break apart and many serpents loot their nectar, or golden caskets burst open around bees drunk on rasa. The Lord catches and flings them again like full jars of ambrosia bursting; Rāmacaraṇa imagines that in Sītā's city even Love and Rati lose their fear. Thus Beloved and beloved play the water-game, laughing together as garlands of joy rise. Lip touches lip, revealing delight; wet curls, nose-jewels, earrings, and pendant ornaments cling to their faces. The pair seem like moons, quick deer, suns, and Love himself, all ancient enmities abandoned for a weightier happiness. Companions laugh, clap, and sing suggestive rāgas pleasing to the heart. Joining hands, all dance nimbly upon the water, stepping, touching, splashing, and making their anklets ring; the stanza continues on the next page.
