Shiva Prescribes Long Satsang for a Doubt Too Deep for a Roadside Answer

Garuda bows at Shiva's feet and tells him everything. Shiva hears the gentle plea with affection, yet he does not compress the mystery into a clever roadside explanation. How shall I make you understand here, he asks, when a doubt of this depth is dissolved only through long companionship with saints?
In satsang, the seeker hears the beautiful stories of Hari sung in many ways by sages. From beginning through middle to end, those stories reveal Rama as the Supreme Lord. Understanding ripens through repeated listening, not through a single concept forced upon a restless mind.
Shiva knows a place where Hari-katha sounds every day. He will send Garuda there. Listen, he says, and every doubt will depart; deep love for Rama's feet will arise. The prescription is not simply information about lila. Garuda must enter a living atmosphere of devotion until the heart that asks the question is changed by what it hears.
Shiva sends Garuda toward an answer that must be inhabited for a long time beneath the shelter of satsang.

तेहिं मम पद सादर सिरु नावा। पुनि आपन संदेह सुनावा।। सुनि ता करि बिनती मृदु बानी। परेम सहित मैं कहेउँ भवानी।। मिलेहु गरुड़ मारग महँ मोही। कवन भाँति समुझावौं तोही।। तबहि होइ सब संसय भंगा। जब बहु काल करिअ सतसंगा।। सुनिअ तहाँ हरि कथा सुहाई। नाना भाँति मुनिन्ह जो गाई।। जेहि महुँ आदि मध्य अवसाना। प्रभु प्रतिपाद्य राम भगवाना।। नित हरि कथा होत जहँ भाई। पठवउँ तहाँ सुनहि तुम्ह जाई।। जाइहि सुनत सकल संदेहा। राम चरन होइहि अति नेहा।।
He respectfully bowed his head at my feet and then shared his doubts with me. Hearing his gentle and loving request, O Bhavani, I spoke to him with affection. 'O Garuda, you have met me on this path. How shall I make you understand?' 'All doubts will be destroyed only when you spend much time in the company of saints.' 'There you should listen to the beautiful stories of Hari, sung in various ways by the sages.' 'In which Lord Rama is established as the Supreme Being, from beginning to middle to end.' 'Brother, where Hari's stories are told daily, I shall send you there to listen.' 'Go and listen. All your doubts will vanish, and you will develop firm love for Rama's feet.'
