Vashishtha returns home after pleasing the ocean of compassion. Rama then leaves the city with Hanuman, Bharata, and the brothers. Elephants, chariots, and horses are brought before him, and he looks with kindness, praises all, and gives each appropriate gift that is sought.
After relieving the weariness of all, Rama enters a place of cool shade. Bharata spreads his own garment as a seat, the Lord rests, and the brothers gather around him in service.
Hanuman begins to fan Rama. A thrill rises through the son of the Wind and tears fill his eyes while the gentle movement of air crosses the shaded place. Shiva tells Girija that no one is more fortunate and none loves Rama's feet more deeply. The Lord himself has praised Hanuman's love and service repeatedly with his own mouth. Beneath the trees, that praise becomes visible in a servant who needs no audience beyond Rama.
The son of the Wind becomes a soft wind in his own hands, fanning Rama while love fills his body with tears.
Read the passage from the Manas
Having spoken thus, sage Vashishtha returned home. His words delighted the heart of the ocean of compassion. Hanuman, Bharat, and the other brothers accompanied the Lord, the giver of joy to His servants. Then the gracious Lord went outside the city and called for elephants, chariots, and horses. Seeing each with kindness, He praised them all and gave to each what they rightly desired. The Lord, taking the trouble to relieve all weariness, went to where cool shade awaited. Bharat spread his own garment as a seat. The Lord sat, and all the brothers served Him. Then Hanuman, son of the Wind, began to fan the Lord. His body thrilled with joy; his eyes filled with tears. There is none as fortunate as Hanuman, nor anyone so devoted to Rama's feet. O Girija, the Lord has sung with His own lips, again and again, of Hanuman's love and service.
