Hanuman asks for a sign of recognition like the ring Raghunayaka gave him. Sita removes her crest jewel and places it in his keeping. The son of the wind receives the chudamani with joy, holding proof that her living hand has answered Rama's token.
Her message bows to the Lord who fulfills all purposes. Let him remember his name as compassionate to the afflicted and remove her terrible distress. Tell the story of Jayanta, Indra's son, and remind Rama of the power once shown by his arrow.
If the Lord does not arrive within one month, he will not find her alive. How can she preserve the life that Hanuman's departure will again leave alone? Seeing the messenger cooled her heart. Once he goes, the same desolate day and night will return around her.
The chudamani enters Hanuman's hand carrying Sita's one-month boundary and the memory of Rama's arrow.
Read the passage from the Manas
"Mother, please give me some token of recognition, just as Raghunayak gave one to me." Then Sita removed her chudamani, her crest-jewel, and gave it to him. The son of the Wind received it with great joy. "Dear one, convey my pranam to the Lord with these words: the Lord is the fulfiller of all longings in every way. Remembering His sacred title as 'Compassionate to the afflicted,' may my Lord remove my heavy burden of suffering. Dear one, tell Him the story of Jayanta, Indra's son, and remind the Lord of the power of His arrow. If my Lord does not come within one month, He will not find me alive. Tell me, O monkey, how shall I keep this life going? And now you too, dear one, are about to leave. Seeing you, my heart found some coolness and peace. But once you go, for me it will be the same desolate day and the same desolate night."
