Ram rises upon the elevated terrace like the young sun appearing over the eastern mountain. A moment earlier he sat beside Vishwamitra in obedient stillness. Now his standing form sends a new dawn through the pavilion.

The saints bloom like lotuses at sunrise. Faces long held in concern open into joy, and the eyes of the people become bees gathering around the radiance before them.

No weapon has moved, yet the night of uncertainty is already retreating. Ram's ascent is only from seat to feet, but the verse makes it a cosmic rising. The platform becomes a horizon, the assembly a waiting landscape, and his first step toward the bow carries the light of day.

Ram stands, and the gathered saints open like lotuses before the sun.

Read the passage from the Manas

उदित उदयगिरि मंच पर रघुबर बालपतंग। बिकसे संत सरोज सब हरषे लोचन भृंग।।254।।

Upon the platform, like the young sun rising over the eastern mountain, Raghuvir arose. All the saint-lotuses bloomed at once. The bee-like eyes of the people rejoiced.
