Lakshmana's furious words shake the earth and make the elephants of the directions sway. Kings recoil, Sita's heart fills with joy, and Janaka feels the sharp embarrassment of his own declaration. The sages thrill inwardly.
Ram makes a small gesture and restrains his brother. He draws Lakshmana near and seats him with affection, quieting cosmic force without rebuke. Then Vishwamitra recognizes the auspicious instant for which the whole assembly has unknowingly waited.
Rise, Ram, the sage says with love. Break Shiva's bow and remove Janaka's distress. Ram bows his head at the guru's feet. Neither excitement nor sorrow disturbs his heart. He stands with natural ease, youthful and composed, his bearing so majestic that even a lion would seem less noble.
At the guru's word, Ram rises without triumph, tension, or hesitation.

लखन सकोप बचन जे बोले। डगमगानि महि दिग्गज डोले।। सकल लोक सब भूप डेराने। सिय हियँ हरषु जनकु सकुचाने।। गुर रघुपति सब मुनि मन माहीं। मुदित भए पुनि पुनि पुलकाहीं।। सयनहिं रघुपति लखनु नेवारे। प्रेम समेत निकट बैठारे।। बिस्वामित्र समय सुभ जानी। बोले अति सनेहमय बानी।। उठहु राम भंजहु भवचापा। मेटहु तात जनक परितापा।। सुनि गुरु बचन चरन सिरु नावा। हरषु बिषादु न कछु उर आवा।। ठाढ़े भए उठि सहज सुभाएँ। ठवनि जुबा मृगराजु लजाएँ।।
The words that Lakshmana spoke in fury made the earth tremble and the elephants guarding the directions sway. All the worlds and all the saints were filled with delight. They turned their loving gaze toward Raghupati.
