Within Dasharatha's palace live Kausalya and the other beloved queens. Sacred conduct shapes the inner royal household as dharma shapes the king's public rule.

They are devoted to their husband, steady in love, and free from the restless pride that palace rank can nourish. Affection joins discipline rather than competing with it.

Most deeply, they remain humble at Shri Hari's lotus feet. The future mothers of the four princes are already turned toward the One who will enter their lives as child. Devotion prepares chambers no architecture can build, quiet and luminous within the palace.

Before any cradle is prepared, the queens make their hearts low at Hari's feet.

Read the passage from the Manas

कौसल्यादि नारि प्रिय सब आचरन पुनीत। पति अनुकूल प्रेम दृढ़ हरि पद कमल बिनीत।।188।।

Kausalya and the other beloved queens were all of sacred conduct, devoted to their husband, steadfast in love, and humble at the lotus feet of Shri Hari.
