Shiva remains absorbed in the rasa of meditation for two full dandas. Nearly forty eight minutes pass beneath the banyan while Parvati waits beside him.
No answer can begin until the speaker has entered the Reality of which he will speak. The silence is not delay but immersion. Wind moves through the banyan leaves while Shiva remains deeper than movement.
At last Mahesh draws the mind outward. Delight remains upon him as he opens his eyes and begins to narrate the deeds of Raghupati. The waiting world seems to breathe again with Parvati.
After forty eight minutes of stillness, Shiva's first word rises from within Ram.

मगन ध्यानरस दंड जुग पुनि मन बाहेर कीन्ह। रघुपति चरित महेस तब हरषित बरनै लीन्ह।।111।।
Shiva remained absorbed in the rasa of dhyana for two dandas (forty-eight minutes). Then he drew his mind outward and, filled with delight, began to narrate the charitra of Raghupati.
