The women of the palace see Maina's distress and lose their own composure. The sorrow of the mountain queen passes through the chamber until no observer remains untouched.

They lament and weep around mother and daughter, remembering the affection with which Parvati grew among them. Wedding ornaments and festive garments now shine strangely through tears.

Their grief arises from love unable to see beyond appearance. The divine bridegroom waits nearby, while the inner rooms fill with the ordinary human terror of losing a cherished daughter. No one yet sees the reunion.

A palace prepared for wedding songs becomes one chamber of mothers weeping for Parvati.

Read the passage from the Manas

भई बिकल अबला सकल दुखित देखि गिरिनारि। करि बिलापु रोदति बदति सुता सनेहु सँभारि।।96।।

All the women became distraught upon seeing the mountain queen's sorrow. Lamenting and weeping, they spoke tenderly, their hearts overflowing with love for the daughter they remembered so dearly.
