Kailash appears unchanged beneath snow, moonlight, and the sound of distant water. Shiva remains absorbed in immeasurable meditation. Sati dwells nearby, carrying a sorrow that deepens rather than passes.
No one around them knows the secret. The mountain household sees continuity, but inwardly the old nearness has ended. Because the wound cannot be spoken and the vow cannot yet be revealed, time loses its ordinary movement.
A single day stretches across Sati's awareness like a yuga. Another follows with the same immense weight. The stillness of Kailash, once a shelter, now gives every unspoken thought endless space in which to echo.
Snow falls upon Kailash, and one concealed day lengthens into an age.
Read the passage from the Manas
सती बसहि कैलास तब अधिक सोचु मन माहिं। मरमु न कोऊ जान कछु जुग सम दिवस सिराहिं।।58।।
Sati then dwelt on Kailasa with ever-deepening sorrow in her mind. No one knew the secret, and days crawled past like ages.
