Knowing Pratapbhanu completely under his influence, Ekatanu agrees. Nothing is difficult for him, he says, and the king is now his devotee in mind, body, and speech. Yoga, ritual method, tapasya, and mantra bear fruit only when kept secret.

The hermit will prepare food himself, while Pratapbhanu serves it without revealing the cook. Whoever eats from that grain will obey the king. When those guests return home, anyone who eats in their houses will also fall beneath the same command.

The plan is to continue for a full year. Sacred hospitality becomes a mechanism of hidden domination, and food meant to create communion is imagined carrying bondage from household to household. The king receives control disguised as service.

A secret kitchen opens in the promise, and every offered plate conceals a chain.

Read the passage from the Manas

Knowing the king was now wholly under his sway, the ascetic, well-versed in deceit, spoke: "Hear the truth, O king. I shall tell you the very root of enmity with the Lord of the world."
