Rama Recalls the Solar Line's Covenant with Truth

Rama asks Bharata to remember the tradition of the solar dynasty: fidelity to truth, the honor of their father, righteous love, the demands of the hour, and reverence owed to guru and elder. Personal gain or hurt must not disturb the mind that weighs them.
Bharata already knows each person's duty and the dharma that is their shared highest good. Rama trusts him completely, yet the occasion requires speech. Without Bharata, the royal household has survived only through the grace of the guru's lineage. Citizens, relatives, family, and brothers might otherwise have been ruined together.
Fate has produced a disorder like the sun rising at the wrong hour or failing to rise at all. The whole world suffers when its sustaining rhythm breaks. Vasishtha and Janaka have preserved the assembly, but Bharata must help restore the order in which truth can again govern time.
Rama calls Bharata to restore the solar rhythm of truth after fate has made the kingdom feel like a world where dawn itself has lost its hour.

जानहु तात तरनि कुल रीती। सत्यसंध पितु कीरति प्रीती।। समउ समाजु लाज गुरुजन की। उदासीन हित अनहित मन की।। तुम्हहि बिदित सबही कर करमू। आपन मोर परम हित धरमू।। मोहि सब भाँति भरोस तुम्हारा। तदपि कहउँ अवसर अनुसारा।। तात तात बिनु बात हमारी। केवल गुरुकुल कृपाँ सँभारी।। नतरु प्रजा परिजन परिवारू। हमहि सहित सबु होत खुआरू।। जौं बिनु अवसर अथवँ दिनेसू। जग केहि कहहु न होइ कलेसू।। तस उतपातु तात बिधि कीन्हा। मुनि मिथिलेस राखि सबु लीन्हा।।
Jaanahu taat tarani kul reetee. Know well, dear son, the tradition of our solar dynasty: truthfulness, your father's glory, and love of righteousness. Samau samaaju laaj gurujan kee. Consider the time, the gathering, the honor owed to elders and gurus, and keep the mind steady, unmoved by gain or loss. Tumhahi bidit sabahee kar karamoo. You know the duty appointed to each soul. Dharma is the highest good for both you and me. Mohi sab bhaanti bharos tumhaaraa. I have complete trust in you in every way; yet I speak now because the occasion demands it. Taat taat binu baat hamaaree. Dear son, without you, our condition has been sustained only by the grace of our guru's household. Nataru prajaa parijan parivaaroo. Otherwise the subjects, the kinsmen, the whole family, together with us, would all have been ruined. Jaun binu avasar athavan dinesoo. If the sun were to rise out of season, or not rise at all, tell me, who in the world would not suffer? Tas utapaatu taat bidhi keenhaa. Just such a calamity, dear son, fate has brought upon us; yet the sage and the king of Mithila have preserved all by their grace.
