Friend, behold the beauty of Raghubīra's face; trace that lovely form upon the wall of your heart with the color of perfect love. (1) Cultivated friend, behold the beauty of his eyes and count your life fulfilled. It is as though the Creator formed two lotuses within the full moon of the sign of Aries. (2) On his broad brow, beneath the brows, shines a lovely vermilion line; it is as though two bees brought rays of the sun to awaken the lotuses. (3) Fair-faced friend, behold the beautiful flowers joined to the lovely region of his hair. It is as though a host of stars abandoned enmity with darkness and came to meet it. (4) The earrings at his ears seem like Guru and Kavi—Jupiter and Venus—engaged in a profound debate, while Love has taken many forms and settled as his nose, teeth, and lips. (5) Nārada, Śiva, Śāradā, and Śeṣa cannot describe his form. Tulsīdāsa asks: how then can I, dullest king of all the slow-witted, describe it? (6)
