Mother, lotus-eyed Raghupati has a body more beautiful than ten million Love-gods; he is the abode of compassion's nectar, the chosen embodiment of beauty, and the sovereign of bliss. Friend, behold his matchless radiance—the sun to the lotus forest of saints—whose lovely fame communities of learned poets sing. (1) After bathing, the Hero of Raghu's line stands on the Sarayū's bank while steadfast devotees serve his lotus feet with pure minds. His moon-face shines amid the circle of brāhmaṇas and the assembly of great sages; the Abode of Joy delights the eyes of all the world. (2) His masses of scattered curls, with clusters of flowers between them, are like a host of jeweled young serpents approaching the moon. Frightened, the moon seems to have coaxed two lovely peacocks to remain beside it; seeing the peacock-like earrings, the serpent-thieves shrink away. (3) His brows are graceful, the tilaka shines on his forehead, and his chin, lips, and teeth are exquisite. His smile is supremely lovely, and his cheeks and nose are beautiful. It is as though two bees sit amid lotuses, while a parrot, seeing a swarm of bees fighting upon a lotus, has gone between them to make peace. (4) A beautiful, spotless yellow cloth and a forest garland fashioned in many ways from tulasī and other flowers shine upon his breast. Against the tamāla tree of his dark body, the garland is like a lovely row of three-colored parrots caught inside a golden net and thus unable to fly away. (5) The bee of Hari's form dwells day and night in the lotus of Śaṅkara's heart and forever fills the mind-houses of the guileless. May Raghurāya, ornament of Ayodhyā, source of boundless joy, remover of every pain, remain gracious to Tulsīdāsa. (6)
