“Kṣemakarī, I give myself for you—speak your lovely words! Mother, when will Sītā, Rāma, and Lakṣmaṇa return safe and well to Ayodhyā's capital? (1) Moon-faced, vermilion-hued, and fair-eyed, the Vedas proclaim you a releaser from grief. Goddess, be compassionate and grant the fruit of your appearance,” all the queens pray with folded hands. (2) Hearing their love-filled words, the bird draws near and circles in graceful rings. Listening again and again to her auspicious, joyful cry in the sky cools the burning within their hearts. (3) Auspicious limbs begin to throb in every direction; minds grow glad and the state of sorrow ends. The wise women bow lovingly with bodies thrilled, interpreting many offerings and omens. (4) At that moment Hanumān told Bharata the entire story of their welfare. Tulsīdāsa says that this desired life-restoring herb destroyed the terrible pain of their long separation. (5)
