Rāma shines, more beautiful than a hundred Loves. Having conquered the enemy in battle, he appears splendid beside his younger brother, passing his lotus hand over bow and arrow. (1) Lovely beads of exertion gleam on his dark body, with charming drops of blood between them—like clusters of fireflies and scarlet velvet mites shining upon the summit of an emerald mountain. (2) Wounded heroes sit resplendent all around, while every bear and forest-dweller rejoices. Amid a grove of blossoming kiṃśuka trees, he is like a great and noble young tamāla. (3) The lotus-eyed Lord looked on with compassion and made sages, nāgas, gods, and human beings fearless. Tulsīdāsa prays that this incomparable form, destroyer of unbearable calamity, may dwell in the lotus of his heart. (4)
