बिनय सुनायबी परि पाय। कहौं कहा, कपीस! तुम्ह सुचि, सुमति, सुहृद सुभाय॥ १ ॥ स्वामि-संकट-हेतु हौं जड़ जननि जनम्यो जाय। समौ पाइ, कहाइ सेवक घट्यो तौ न सहाय॥ २ ॥ कहत सिथिल सनेह भो, जनु धीर घायल घाय। भरत-गति लखि मातु सब रहि ज्यों गुड़ी बिनु बाय॥ ३ ॥ भेंट कहि कहिबो, कह्यो यों कठिन-मानस माय। “लाल! लोने लषन-सहित सुललित लागत नाँय”॥ ४ ॥ देखि बंधु-सनेह, अंब सुभाउ, लषन-कुठाय। तपत तुलसी तरनि-त्रासकु एहि नये तिहुँ ताय॥ ५ ॥

“Fall at his feet and present this petition. What need I say, lord of monkeys? You are pure, wise, and naturally a true friend. (1) I, a fool, was born of the mother who caused my Master's calamity. If, when the moment came, I who am called his servant failed to help him, I have fallen short indeed.” (2) As Bharata spoke, love made him go limp, like a steadfast warrior disabled by a wound. Seeing his condition, all the mothers stood still like kites when there is no wind. (3) Kaushalyā, whose heart was heavy, told Hanumān what to say when he met Rāma: “My son, the lovely dark one does not look truly beautiful without graceful Lakṣmaṇa beside him.” (4) Seeing the brother's love, the mother's nature, and Lakṣmaṇa's distress, Tulsī says that even the terror of the sun, Hanumān, burned beneath these three new fires.
