मेरो सुनियो, तात! सँदेसो। सीय-हरन जनि कहेहु पितासों, ह्वैहै अधिक अँदेसो॥ १ ॥ रावरे पुन्यप्रताप-अनल महँ अलप दिननि रिपु दहिहैं। कुलसमेत सुरसभा दसानन समाचार सब कहिहैं॥ २ ॥ सुनि प्रभु-बचन, राखि उर मूरति, चरन-कमल सिर नाई। चल्यो नभ सुनत राम-कल-कीरति, अरु निज भाग बड़ाई॥ ३ ॥ पितु-ज्यों गीध-क्रिया करि रघुपति अपने धाम पठायो। ऐसो प्रभु बिसारि तुलसी सठ! तू चाहत सुख पायो॥ ४ ॥
“Dear father, hear my message. Do not tell my father about Sītā’s abduction, for it would increase his anxiety. (1) In the fire of your holy power all the enemies will burn within a few days. Then Daśānana himself, together with his clan, will go to the divine assembly and tell the whole account.” (2) Hearing the Lord’s words, Jaṭāyu placed his beautiful form in his heart, bowed his head at the lotus feet, and departed through the sky while hearing Rāma’s sweet fame and praise of his own fortune. (3) Raghupati performed the vulture’s rites as he would a father’s and sent him to his own abode. Foolish Tulsīdāsa, forgetting such a Lord, do you still wish to find happiness? (4)
