नीके कै जानत राम हियो हौं। प्रनतपाल, सेवक-कृपालु-चित, पितु पटतरहि दियो हौं॥ १ ॥ त्रिजगजोनि-गत गीध, जनम भरि खाइ कुजंतु जियो हौं। महाराज सुकृती-समाज सब-ऊपर आजु कियो हौं॥ २ ॥ श्रवन बचन, मुख नाम, रूप चख, राम उछंग लियो हौं। तुलसी मो समान बड़भागी को कहि सके बियो हौं॥ ३ ॥
Rāma, I know your heart well. You protect those who surrender and your heart is compassionate toward servants; therefore you have placed me on a level with your father. (1) I am a vulture born among the creatures of the three worlds, and I lived my whole life eating base animals. Yet today, great King, you have raised me above the entire company of the virtuous. (2) My ears hear your words, my mouth speaks your name, my eyes behold your form, and Rāma has taken me into his lap. Tulsīdāsa asks: who else can claim fortune equal to mine? (3)
