देखे राम पथिक नाचत मुदित मोर। मानत मनहु सतड़ित ललित घन, धनु सुरधनु, गरजनि टँकोर॥ १ ॥ कँपे कलाप बर बरहि फिरावत, गावत कल कोकिल-किसोर। जहँ जहँ प्रभु बिचरत, तहँ तहँ सुख, दंडकबन कौतुक न थोर॥ २ ॥ सघन छाँह-तम रुचिर रजनि भ्रम, बदन-चंद चितवत चकोर। तुलसी मुनि खग-मृगनि सराहत, भए हैं सुकृत सब इन्हकी ओर॥ ३ ॥
Seeing the traveler Rāma, the delighted peacocks dance. They take him for a lovely cloud attended by lightning, his bow for the rainbow, and its twang for thunder. (1) Fine peacocks shake and display their splendid plumage while young cuckoos sing sweetly. Wherever the Lord wanders, happiness appears; the wonder in Daṇḍaka forest is no small thing. (2) The darkness beneath the dense shade creates the illusion of a lovely night, and the cakora gazes at the moon of his face. Tulsīdāsa says the sages praise the birds and beasts: all accumulated merit has surely turned to their side. (3)
