That day Bharata reached Śṛṅgaverapura. Hearing news of Rāma from the Lord’s friend, his eyes filled with water. (1) Seeing Raghupati’s bed of kuśa grass and recognizing himself as its cause, he passed the entire night seated there, recounting the story of Sītā, Rāma, and Lakṣmaṇa. (2) At dawn he set out for Bharadvāja’s hermitage with the Niṣāda king in front, like a thirsting elephant that has glimpsed a lake when scorched by fierce heat. (3) As he asked everyone, ‘Where is Citrakūṭa?’ the sages’ young disciples showed him. Tulsī says that, beholding it, his heart joyfully rushed forward like a serpent that has found the jewel it was seeking. (4)
