Citrakūṭa is lovely every day, But when the rainy season enters, the heart becomes especially eager to behold the mountain. (1) The forest prospers in every direction, and calling birds and beasts add to its beauty; It seems like Indra’s flourishing realm, where every joyful subject enjoys every happiness. (2) Dark clouds look splendid, softly rumbling as they mingle with mineral-colored peaks; It is as though the primal lotus shone there, attended by bee-like gods and sages. (3) When banks of cloud touch the summits and meet lines of white cranes, what poet could describe that beauty? It seems the primal Boar has emerged from roaming the ocean, bearing the earth upon his tusk. (4) In pure, water-filled rocks shimmer rippling reflections of sky and forest, As though the wondrous creation of the universe played across every limb of the Cosmic Person. (5) Clear waterfalls pour and pour, full of water, until they meet the Mandākinī; Tulsī says every meritorious joy seems to follow behind devotion to Rāma. (6)
