मोको बिधुबदन विलोकन दीजै। राम लषन मेरी यहैं भेंट, बलि, जाउ, जहाँ मोहि मिलि लीजै॥ १ ॥ सुनि पितु-बचन चरन गहे रघुपति, भूप अंक भरि लीन्हें। अजहुँ अवनि बिदरत दरार मिस सो अवसर सुधि कीन्हें॥ २ ॥ पुनि सिर नाइ गवन कियो प्रभु, मुरछित भयो भूप न जाग्यो। करम-चोर नृप-पथिक मारि मानो राम-रतन लै भाग्यो॥ ३ ॥ तुलसी रबिकुल-रबि रथ चढ़ि चले तकि दिसि दखिन सुहाई। लोग नलिन भए मलिन अवध-सर, बिरह बिषम हिम पाई॥ ४ ॥
Let me behold your moon-face. Rāma, Lakṣmaṇa, this is my last meeting with you; I give myself—wherever I go, come and meet me there. (1) Hearing his father's words, Raghupati clasped his feet, and the king gathered him into his arms. Even now the earth seems to remember that moment and splits open in the guise of cracks. (2) Then the Lord bowed his head and departed; the king fainted and did not awaken. It was as though the thief called karma slew the kingly traveler and fled with the jewel named Rāma. (3) Tulsī says the sun of the Solar line mounted the chariot and set out, gazing toward the lovely southern quarter. The people-lotuses in Ayodhyā's lake grew pale, struck by the cruel frost of separation. (4)
