Tell me: without you, what use is my home? Since my beloved has relinquished the kingdom, the forest is equal to millions of heavens for me. (1) Pure bark-cloth will be lovely silk, and roots and fruits will be ambrosial grain. Moment after moment I shall behold the Lord's lotus feet—what greater treasury of happiness could there be? (2) Should I remain in the palace, greedy for pleasure, while my husband wears a sage's garb in the forest? Tulsīdāsa says: hearing words of such separation, why did my hard heart not split apart today? (3)
