लेहु री! लोचननिको लाहु। कुँवर सुंदर साँवरो, सखि सुमुखि! सादर चाहु॥ १ ॥ खंडि हर-कोदंड ठाढ़े, जानु-लंबित-बाहु। रुचिर उर जयमाल राजति, देत सुख सब काहु॥ २ ॥ चितै चित-हित-सहित नख-सिख अंग-अंग निबाहु। सुकृत निज, सियराम-रूप, बिरंचि-मतिहि सराहु॥ ३ ॥ मुदित मन बरबदन-सोभा उदित अधिक उछाहु। मनहु दूरि कलंक करि ससि समर सूद्यो राहु॥ ४ ॥ नयन सुखमा-अयन हरत सरोज-सुंदरताहु। बसत तुलसीदास-उरपुर जानकीकौ नाहु॥ ५ ॥
Friend, reap the reward of your eyes! Fair-faced companion, look reverently upon the handsome dark prince. (1) Having broken Hara's great bow, he stands with arms reaching to his knees. The lovely victory-garland shines upon his breast and gives joy to everyone. (2) Look with your whole heart and loving attention at every limb from nail to crown. Praise your own merit, the beauty of Sītā and Rāma, and Brahmā's skill. (3) His heart is glad, and greater radiance rises upon his beautiful face— as though the moon had cast away its stain and slain Rāhu in battle. (4) His eyes, abodes of beauty, steal even the lotus's loveliness. Jānakī's Lord dwells in the city of Tulsīdāsa's heart. (5)
