Great indeed is the king's fortune upon this earth: with deepest love he gazes upon the children Rāma, Lakṣmaṇa, the foe-subduer Śatrughna, and Bharata. (1) Childhood ornaments shine upon their feet and over every tender, lovely part of their limbs, as though buds of beauty had appeared upon the charming saplings of Daśaratha's merit. (2) The royal swan who dwells and sports in the lake of Hara's heart now races upon knees and hands through the king's courtyard, trying to catch a darting crow. (3) The siddhas rejoice, the hosts of sages offer praise, and gods, kinnaras, and nāgas say: “Better to be birds, dwelling in the city, groves, and gardens, so that we might behold these children.” (4) The king and queens, together with their household, have bathed in the Prayāga of love. Tulsī says: these four, shining like emerald and ruby gems, are the fruits of that sacred bath. (5)
