She rocks the Lord of Raghu in the cradle. Taking his names again and again, Kausalyā sings his lovely glory in a sweet, loving voice. (1) His dark body gleams with the luster of a peacock's throat, adorned with carefully arranged ornaments for a child. His locks curl; a lovely pendant rests at the brow; his two eyes shine like blue lotuses. (2) How lovely his infant nature appears when his hands grasp his tender feet and bring them near his mouth— as though a beautiful pair of serpents, filling themselves with lotuses, truly gained nectar from the moon. (3) Seeing the incomparable toy above, he crows and stretches out his hands again and again— as though two lotuses, sorely afraid of the moon, were pleading with the red sun. (4) Tulsīdāsa says: overwhelmed by the rich fragrance, bees hum; that exquisite beauty cannot be told— as though all the Vedic verses had become honeybees and were proclaiming his stainless fame in noble speech.
