माथे हाथ ऋषि जब दियो राम किलकन लागे। महिमा समुझि, लीला बिलोकि गुरु सजल नयन, तनु पुलक, रोम रोम जागे॥ १ ॥ लिये गोद, धाए गोदतें, मोद मुनि मन अनुरागे। निरखि मातु हरषी हिये आली-ओट कहति मृदु बचन प्रेमके-से पागे॥ २ ॥ तुम्ह सुरतरु रघुबंसके, देत अभिमत माँगे। मेरे बिसेषि गति रावरी, तुलसी प्रसाद जाके सकल अमंगल भागे॥ ३ ॥
When the sage places his hand upon Rāma's brow, Rāma begins to coo. Understanding his greatness and beholding his play, the guru's eyes fill with tears, his body thrills, and every hair awakens. (1) He takes Rāma into his lap, but Rāma runs out of it; delight fills the sage's loving mind. Seeing this, the mother rejoices within and, sheltered behind a companion, speaks gentle words as though steeped in love. (2) “You are the wish-granting tree of the Raghu line, giving whatever desired thing is asked. My refuge is especially in you.” Tulsī says: by his grace, every evil omen fled. (3)
