Fly-whisks wave over the throne; drums resound and cries of victory rise; Saraswati and the gods praise her as the Lady of countless universes.
Arati — Pada 96
All together, O mother, wave the arati for the beautiful pair of Rama and Sita.
Crowns and crescent ornaments shine upon their heads, spreading a brilliant radiance everywhere.
Vermilion, saffron, and sandal adorn their brows; jeweled garlands and moon-necklaces rest upon their breasts.
Earrings sway at their ears, flashing like a thousand bolts of lightning.
Red and yellow garments cover their bodies; their lotus-feet are filled with incomparable bliss.
Rameshvara longs only for this vision; their beauty is measureless and without end.
Door-Blocking — Pada 97
I shall take a fine payment for blocking the door— only then, dear brother, will I let you enter the pleasant kohbar chamber.
Only when you give me the five-stranded necklace I desire, dear brother, will I let you enter.
Only when you agree to whatever I ask, dear brother, will I let you enter.
Arrange your sister’s marriage to my brother— only then will I let you enter.
If you will not grant that joy, then accept refuge in Sita— only then will I let you enter, O colorful one!
Pada 98
“This is no doorway to pass freely, Raghunandana—listen! When Raghunandana set out for the kohbar, the sakhis barred his way.
If you place one foot inside without paying the customary gift, you will receive ritual abuse by the thousand; if you have brought no wealth with you, sell even sister and mother!
Bashful Harinatha says nothing; he only stands smiling, the playful Bihari.”
