Translation of page 71

Lustrous pearl earrings touch their spotless cheeks; their restless lotus eyes gleam like moving water-lilies. Beside Sita's red veil, Rama's yellow cloth glows; it is as though lightning flashed within a crimson cloud. Sita's ornament is reflected upon Rama's heart, like a divine lamp burning in the midst of the Yamuna's dark waters. Near dark Rama, fair Sita shines like tested gold beside an emerald jewel. Rama becomes a dark raincloud and Sita a flash of lightning; hearing of them, moon and chakora bird stand astonished. Rama appears fair of body and Sita dark, and at that reversal even the wise become bewildered. Flowers rain from the clouds and cover the earth; Rama's wedding is taking place in Janakpur, a vast treasury of merit. Gods and human beings rejoice and shower flowers; Brahma and all the gods cry, delighted, “Victory! Victory!” Shankara forever holds Rama and Sita in meditation; beholding their form as Brahman, Indra worships them. Sages meditate upon this vision of the youthful divine pair; beholding their stainless delight again and again, the Vedas sing their praise. Whoever sings this blessing, or sings it for others to hear, attains Sita's lotus feet and the supreme abode.
