Filling the ritual basket, they present the arati, then set off again, singing resounding cries of victory.
Pada 36
The young beauties stand and sing the lovely ghurchhak, golden vessels borne upon their heads. Glad music of celebration sounds at the royal lodging, where Dasharatha sits with his sons. Hearing that the women have come to welcome the bridegroom, the lord of Ayodhya places seven jewels in their vessel. Then sage Vasishtha gives his instruction: “Go now, and let the beloved bride receive her lord.” Hearing the guru's tender and blessed words, Raghunath sets out with all four brothers.
The Bridegroom's Entrance from the Royal Lodging — Pada 37
Making his horse prance, the dark-hued guest approaches—look, my friend, what wondrous splendor crowns his wedding plume! High upon his broad brow, curling locks hang down; look, my friend, at those kohl-darkened eyes. Upon his smooth cheeks the earrings sport and sparkle; look, my friend, at those uniquely crimson lips. Seeing the buoyant nose-ring leap and sway, my heart swells; look, my friend—his smile leaves me utterly undone. Mod can no longer remain among his companions, even for a day or an instant; look, my friend—let worldly shame be cast aside like ash!
Pada 38
Look, look, look, friend—the dark-hued guest! The moment I behold him, friend, my heart is carried away.
