Translation of page 32

“He will braid your hair and weave flowers into it, and paint red javak upon your feet. Taking you in his lap, he will swell with delight and lovingly feed you betel.

“Night and day he will be steeped in your love; he will not remain without you even for a moment.” Ramsakhe says: the Lord, crazed by her beauty, will remain gazing upon her face.

Arrival of the Wedding Procession

His limbs are dark and lustrous like a peacock’s throat; his splendid garments put lightning to shame. He wears the many ornaments of a bridegroom; every auspicious adornment is beautiful upon him.

His lovely face is like the stainless autumn moon; his fresh lotus eyes make lotuses themselves ashamed. None can describe all that unearthly beauty; the heart silently savors it.

His charming brothers shine beside him, making their spirited horses dance as they go. The princes display their splendid steeds, while heralds proclaim the glory of their lineage.

The horse upon which Rama rides makes even Garuda blush to behold its gait. Its beauty in every respect is beyond description— it seems that Love himself has assumed a horse’s form.

Chhand

As though Love had taken the form of a horse, it shines exceedingly for Rama; its age, strength, beauty, virtues, and gait enchant every world. Its gold-worked saddle glitters, set with radiant pearls, gems, and rubies; gods, humans, and sages are transfixed by its tinkling ornaments, crest, and lovely reins.

Doha

The Lord’s mind seems wholly absorbed in the horse, and the horse moves in accord with his thought; it is as though a cloud adorned with lightning and stars were making a splendid peacock dance.

Even Saraswati could not fully describe the noble horse on which Rama rides.
