“What is he like—his fame and standing, his splendor, happiness, and honor?” Hearing them, the barber was overcome with emotion and replied, “What can I, an ignorant man, say? The fame and majesty of Ayodhya’s lord resound throughout the fourteen worlds.” Sunayana and the women of Janakpur understood that house and groom to be worthy of their daughter. Sneh Lata says: before the gods they joyfully set down the auspicious grain.
Matkor — Pada 10
Joy today—Janakpur is filled with joy, with joy! Mother, today is Siya’s matkor; on every side there is joy.
Joyous instruments are playing, and all the companions rejoice. Mother, their bliss is boundless; lovely dancers sway in joy.
Uma, Rama, and Brahmani have all assembled in delight. Mother, they sing auspicious songs whose sound gladdens the heart.
The gods joyfully shower flowers—everyone is filled with joy. Mother, cries of “Victory! Victory!” ring in every direction; Srinidhi rejoices.
Matkor — Pada 11
The women fill their gathered veils again and again; graceful Siya sets out to worship Kamala.
Adorned and arrayed in every limb, Siya goes with her companions, absorbed in bliss.
Incense, lamps, garlands, sacred grass, tulsi, and flowers— she arranges them on a tray, with unbroken rice and sandal paste.
