Over that form a deep-blue sari shines like lightning flashing within a raincloud. Mohani Ali says: the beloved’s heart is caught upon seeing Siya’s colorful, captivating smile.
Pada 252
Friend, behold the beauty of Siya’s bridegroom! He sits upon a jewel-studded golden throne, crushing countless comparisons drawn from the god of love. His body is like a blue lotus wrought from Indra’s sapphire; beholding that beauty, the mind becomes spellbound.
A jeweled crown rests above his curling locks; in the joy of seeing him, the radiance of sun and moon grows pale. Round cheeks, jewel earrings, and a gem upon his nose shine like the tender bud of a celestial flower. Betel reddens his smiling lips; within his gaze the heart melts away in love.
His arched brows are striking, his lovely teeth resemble pomegranate seeds, and jeweled necklaces grace his conch-shaped throat. Upon his broad chest rest a forest garland and a garland of flowers, each increasing the other’s beauty.
Friend, behold his thighs, knees, ankles, and lotus feet—the resting place of every heart. His pure yellow dhoti is tied beautifully at the waist, casting brilliance in every direction. In his red lotus-hand he turns a lotus; beholding him, even the splendors of Shiva and the moon are humbled. Hearing her beloved’s words, Janaka’s darling rejoices, filled with love, says Rasamala.
Pada 253
Raghubira has taken possession of my peace. Casting away the shame of the world and the dignity of family, I have become a yogini. With ashes upon my body and a rosary in my hand, I wander along the bank of the Sarayu. Day and night I roam the lanes of Pramodavana, restless for the sight of him. When shall the pain in my heart subside after I behold that moonlike face framed by curling locks? Rasamala says: I shall quench the burning of my heart by drinking the cooling water of that beautiful face.
