Pada 212
Friend, Sita’s bridegroom is wonderfully colorful!
A jeweled crown shines upon his brow, strings of pearls hanging from it; his cheeks glow, adorned by the lovely crest.
His long, glossy, curling black hair falls in ringlets; his sharp eyes and sparkling nose-jewel are radiant.
His dark-hued body is exceedingly tender; every limb seems to hold beauty fast.
Dignity, gravity, and every virtue dwell in him; modesty and affection are visible in his very bearing.
Hunger and thirst have left me, mother; night and day my mind remains intoxicated by his beauty.
In my heart I have vowed to surrender my body to him, knowing that his love for my soul is deeper still.
Says Rasika Ali: the elders have learned this secret— how long can the swelling river of love be concealed?
Pada 213
Understand, friend: one must become a lover. Even if the heart’s beloved does not speak, one must remain in his presence.
The nectar of Sita’s Lord’s holy fame fills the earth, and every worthy means is available; yet people abandon yoga, sacrifice, vows, and discipline to drink the cruel poison of sensuality.
