Welcome everyone. Gurudev Sri Mooji Baba Ki Jai. We can take a moment to send our love and blessings to him. So, then now we have a seeker who says: 'Father, I have two questions. First, on self-realization: Is it a gradual process of being established in the Self? Does Father find it easy to be always as the real Self, free from identification? Secondly, we see people in the world undergoing severe suffering, living in difficult circumstances. How does Consciousness allow extreme suffering in the play and make it a nightmare?'

So, the first question is: What is self-realization? What is liberation? For the long answer, there are two aspects to that which we call self-realization. The first aspect is the recognition of what is true about you, the recognition of the truth of your reality, of the Self. Self-realization. So, the question is: What is it that I truly am? All this inquiry, all that we go through in satsang every day, is so that you can come to this seeing of that which is beyond an experience, that which is for yourself, never touched by any appearance, yet it is the source of all appearances. It can never be affected. It is your reality, which is beyond all the states—waking, dreaming—that which is witnessing all that comes and goes, but it itself is not that. It is ever-present prior to time. It never had a start, and it will never end. You can never say it is not, but everything else we can say it is not, because everything else comes and goes, but it is not so.

All of these aspects which we speak of in satsang, and that which is discovered by the grace of the Satguru, this Self—this aspect is called the recognition of the Self. And it can happen sometimes in a way suddenly, like, 'Oh, I cannot find this "me," but this is what I am.' Or it can be a steady discovery. This is the first part. The first part makes it easier. The second part is the letting go of the old conditioning, letting go of ideas of ourselves. Why I make this distinction is because many times you could have a clear moment of awakening, of self-recognition, and yet even that adds to your conditioning. Even that can become part of our conditioning where some specialness will come, or some feeling of having to hold on to it can come. That is why it is also important to allow all these notions to come and go.

The ability—one is clear about the reality, one is clear about who they really are—and this wearing off of limitation, this wearing off of identity, I call the gradual process of being established in the Self. Very subtle. The first part, the recognition, can seem like it is sudden or something could seem like it is natural. But usually, the letting go of the old conditioning seems to take some time in this way. But what is important is to see that the dropping of the conditioning also has to happen now. So, we can say certain things which are temporal, which are based on our experience of seeing such things, but when I say it to you, I have to say that we can only drop it now, or that it is already gone now. Right now, you are in clear awareness. Yet, in your world, in the play of the coconut, which is the outer representation of life, it might seem like there was a journey toward your finding about yourself. That which is outside of time, the gradual process or the outward process, belongs to this—the outer realm—not to your reality.

Does Father find it easy to always be as the real Self, free from identification? There are two clarifications here. So, when all of you say 'Father,' this Father is not this body. This Father is this Guru presence which reveals what you are. This one communicating is all referring to that same holy presence; it is not referring to a particular body. This Father is always free. I can say because I feel like that is what is. But your question is mostly asking what this voice is saying to be. You are just allowing it to be. There can be moments once in a while where momentarily it can seem like what the mind is saying has some meaning, but this momentariness goes as time is going along.

Now, I have to say this honestly, I do, because otherwise what can happen is you can have a sense of a hundred percent idea. There is nobody, nobody who has appeared in this level of the world, who is complete hundred percent, because the design of this Self is so awesome, so immersive, that everyone who has come here—be it Krishna or Ram or Jesus—they only had a few moments here and there where direct identification seemed to be. But to see, then I will look back at the life of this one. I look back at it with some amazement, some things about how it was. The time where this life was seemingly led, you see, in the operation of the mind, and it seemed like an individual life, driven by desire and doership. Now it seems like a different life by the grace of my Master. This operation now hardly ever rears its head. It's not about hundred percent, but you will find that life becomes more and more full of ease and comfort, no matter what the external seeming circumstances might be, because the oppression of the mind is reduced to such an extent. We start to see that all things are just the grace of the Master himself.

Second is the people in the world undergoing severe suffering, living in difficult circumstances. How does Consciousness allow extreme suffering in the play to make it a nightmare? Many have asked over these years: 'Why is this like this? Why do bad things happen to good people? Why does this happen in Consciousness?' So, this 'why' is based on an idea of limitation. Sometimes this answer, at a particular stage, might seem like it is transformational, or it's just not there as a meaning, and that is fine. But this is the way I have to speak it at the moment: that once you clarify what you really are, who you really are, then you will see that in this realm of appearances, all the contrasts are always available about everything. This is the realm of duality. Just like the realm of duality in the opposites come, you see here, once you clarify your true position, then the opposites will not affect you.

You would see this like we will see a movie in which there are all the opposites. In fact, if only one side was there, it would be very terrible. Imagine a movie that is completely oppressive from the start, and it would not be very liked. Or it's completely happy-happy; in fact, then it would not be very immersive. That itself shows us that there is something in Consciousness which wants to get so caught up. And it was the same for our life as well. You want to experience the opposites. You don't want to eat sweet-sweet; you want to change the taste. You don't always want to hear the same music; you want some variety, you want some change in colors. And it is the contrast which makes it very sweet sometimes.

The second aspect of it is that even if we do consider that this world is suffering in this way and it is unfair, the best gift you can give to this world—if you suppose that this world is unfair and it should not happen—then even from this limited perspective, what is the best gift that you can give to this world? It is your own freedom. It is the best gift to add your freedom from this oppressive mind, to be a light, a holy presence uncontaminated by egoic thoughts in the world. So, all the sages, irrespective of whether their expression was this way or that way, have given the world satsang. Here is your opportunity to give yourself and the world this gift of your holy presence. And besides, this life, as you become free of your suffering, if you become free of your suffering, you give light to others to become free of theirs.

These days, when I close my eyes, there is a stream of grace and compassion that is always there with no effort. A point at which the possibility of the mind going to good or bad is seen. This stream of grace and compassion that is always there, so simple, with no effort. They say, 'We need this one relationship, it is promised.' And that relationship comes, they think, 'Well, finally I have that.' And then soon after, 'Oh, thank you God, but she's a bit this way. Can you change this about her? Or change this about him?' Like this, with anything in life—be it money, be it relationship, be it the body.

It is very obvious that we want many times even what the mind has been asking for, but how long has it remained satisfied with that? We come to satsang. This is a very valid point. We come to satsang to find ourselves, to find God, to find this food, refreshments, whatever terminology you might have. You come into satsang, and I am showing all of you God every day. All of you see God every day. But that same tendency, this resistance, where does this same thing happen? The part in you which says, 'No, no, no, but this can't be it. I was expecting more drums or more fireworks.' Somebody was saying, 'And now that I have this, by the way, also take care of the money situation, take care of basically an idea that I have about how the world should be.' So, what is here now? You say very good to me that I see all this play. If all this play also includes that which sees it, also include that which sees it. I've always said, don't get caught up in only what is seen. So, that which sees it, also include that as the oneness, as one great Atma, that which is seen and that which sees, both are oneself. Let the mind also be included in that. But being included in that does not mean that you have to be the same with it, to the extent of allowing every thought to come and move on. Only belief—don't give it. Nobody can hold on to a belief in the mind. It's only when you consider yourself an individual entity, then it can seem like it's a task or some work.

Oh, this being that is not here. You want any concept of forcing a thought that will be? And who is searching for being? Being itself is in search by being itself. But then, is it possible to communicate with the ones who passed away? Well, nobody will ever really come or pass away. Nobody has ever really come or passed away. They are always expressions of the same being. Appearances are always a projection of the one being. It might seem like they were born, and it does.

If you take yourself to be an entity, then it can seem like it's a task or some effort. Oh, this being that is not here, you want any concept of forcing to occur that will be. And who isn't searching for being itself is instruction by being itself. But is it possible to communicate with the ones who passed away? Well, nobody will ever really come or passed away. Nobody has ever really come. They're always in expressions of the same being. Appearances are always a dilution of the one being. It might seem like the world was, and it does, it did. Something actually happened? Never. It never did. As you communicate now, your heart and higher consciousness is here, faster than any man can imagine, beyond time and space. All these things and the perceptions are racing to make you are beyond time and space. But those and death within families, you are beyond it of this. It just benefits of your own being, hearing the games on the couch here, the possible reading. This concept of separation itself is all. See that all the time.
