All right, everyone, welcome to satsang today. Bhagavan Sri Ramana Maharshi ki Jai. Let’s see what comes up first. Obviously, if someone came to you and said, 'I am going to charge you ten thousand pounds and I'm going to tell you a very important secret,' you see, you would ask, 'What will that help me do?' And they say, 'It will help you sit exactly where you're sitting right now.' You would say, 'What? But I am already here. I am already sitting.' But it's very difficult to sit exactly where you are. Why? Because I need steps for that. So, you know what I'm getting at? Firstly, we must be able to define a starting point in a way.
Effort means that there is an extant self-concept or a theory, and then something should happen. Okay, so what is that effort for? It is like speaking to somebody in business who says, 'If you do this, this, and this, you make this amount of money.' Now, in the spiritual search, what is the end product of that effort? It is your true Self. So, if the end point of this effort is your true Self, what do we mean by 'true'? True means what you are is usable here and now. And also, true means that which cannot come and go. Therefore, it must already be here. If something already is, can there ever be effort to make it that way? Therefore, it must already be this which already is.
So, what is this then that we are talking about? What else is there? It feels like it is effort, no? Therefore, then, what is he talking about? If it originally is this way, then what is going on? Then it must be that that which is has given to itself the power to make it seem like it is not that. We are really smoothly drinking it on faith. So, that which already is, which cannot come and go, must already be here now, more than two minutes then, sitting exactly where you are. More effortless than that. You are this one already. But this one must have given to itself the power to believe otherwise—the power to believe that it is not this, the power to make it seem as if it is not that, but it is limited.
But to do that, it would have to take a few steps. Attention, you see? I can take a little piece. These are the steps. What is happening, you see, in this game is that the game seems to have become natural. The claim of a separate identity seems to have become natural. So, it can seem like that. Actually, what is naturally here is my identity? It can only seem that way. So, it is worthwhile to make that effort to investigate whether it is so. To make that effort to find out, to inquire until the truth is seen. For us, for whom it seems like naturally there is a person here, naturally identity is there, then we will see that actually, actually, there is no person. It is the mind which is struggling to create the person moment to moment. But if that effort, like inquiry, seems like it is needed to recognize what is naturally here effortlessly, then in itself it makes sense to put that effort in.
Effort means the motion to remain motionless, to become empty of motions. When that motion is verified as the truth, we are going to the watchful pushing for wisdom. So, we must be able to then smell and see: what is it naturally? Do you feel like actually you are an individual entity sitting there on the sofa? Do you feel naturally that the thoughts have an individual? If the thought is brought to you, the mind has brought you a story, then it makes sense to inquire, to investigate, to make that small effort. It is not effort because it is a stepping back, a little stepping back. And if you step back, life is as it is.

So, I say to some of the babies, 'You become a zero.' Simply there. If I was to put you there on this conveyor belt, a hundred things will come and you will pick up all of them, and I will pay you 500 rupees an hour for this job, okay? Picking up each thing. That is effort. At the end of the hour, you come to me and say, 'See, I put in that effort for the one hour, give me my 500 rupees,' isn't it? Now, if I were to tell you, 'And now your next job, which is superior, is to just allow the conveyor belt to go. Don't pick up, don't touch anything.' You will say, 'What? You're going to pay me for this?' I mean, that is no effort. Now, this is exactly what I am saying to do with the mind. And whether this seems like effort, this is what the sages are saying: 'Don't touch the mind as it carries its things.' So, to pick up from the conveyor belt, that is effort, that is hard work. But why is the picking up from the conveyor belt of the mind not seen as effort? It exists there since it seems like in this play or this life, it just seems this way. There's nobody to pick it up, no? It seems like we learned, and our habit is to work the mind.
So, this is becoming the same from the conveyor belt of world to life. Almost like you feel like you're hungry and there's a conveyor belt of food. It could feel like that. It feels so tempting. We might say every day if some beautiful life is coming on the conveyor belt and we're very, very strong, then that seems very effortless to hold on and pick it up. So, that temptation is one form of our conditioning. What is it offering to you? What it is actually giving you is, you know, unsolicited advice on how to suffer. Say whatever you feel at that moment it is offering to you. Some sense of idea of that will, some sense of making something better, changing this idea that it should be like this, why life should be like that, my partner should be like this, my relationship should be like that. Actually, the mind just makes sense usually. It says, 'Try it, specifically you will like it. You've tried it before, you think it's really nice, you'll enjoy it.' Like the previous night, so you put it back in your mouth. I mean, it's something serious like bitter and you didn't like it, you want for it to totally fill that void for yourself. Where other innocence doesn't give a thought to it, doesn't do it today. But that's the Atma Gyan. That is really that option. Sense is that option and the sense because you like it, a lot of food and the clearly intended to be really to be seeking, to be smiling.
So, when you see food and you cannot believe it without food, that's fine. If I see something based on very, of course, we're going to see, you know, what's best for the necessity for change. Who is naturally present? 'I don't like the idea of it this way, so I will change it.' And then I need some thinking: 'This will change anything.' So, the conviction is already quite happening of itself. Look, this habit goes with you for any sense since it's going on. The point counts: victory, defeat, an idea like this. My mind is very much like being here on the free market. Signals there. I'm saying neither this form to speak. Suppose that it said something really stupid, then this is thankful. Usually, what happens is that language comes out from one particular mouth, then identity takes ownership. Or if something is fabulous, it is the same of the universe. That distinction is it just purely about the visual perspective? If you said something funny or silly, and I'm not even taking you over here, this box or not something which was really silly, this what is again? So, it was not wearing it well. Then let go. That will be what? Can another video of what the person said something incoherent? Why do you say 'I said this'? Body habit is the idea of separation. Body, you learn things and gave this is still around that. Still around it, it's still conscious and maybe the first thing we mean by that story.
So, now if that identity is not there, which it isn't, then how the thought comes with the message that 'you are like this,' 'I am like this.' When that message is gone, what is it? It seems like the other organ. We seem to become. And if I thought from this moment teaching me, suddenly we start as we itself. In the sense, we feel that we have this body activity. You feel like the person in this body. Now, be without the thought. Certainly, it's something. Limit yourself without it. For evenness of the contract, feel contract to seeing a motion. For coming, all sensations are coming. You need the thought to come and say, 'See, this is you.' Can you use this? Really think that motion has to be there? If you don't have the notion of contraction or expansion also, you think yourself without using a thought. Try it for a second. Try to do it. Now, limit yourself without using a thought, without using a motion. Even a sensation is not you.

If you feel like there is a report or a conclusion about yourself without which you can't survive, then you can expose that. And there is some concept of knowing which is central to your very existence. If you feel that way, then you can expose that one, which is the same as surrender or inquire into it and check whose life is dependent on this conclusion, on this motion. Even freedom, which might have started off seemingly like an idea, but now you're letting go of the notion of it and you're tasting something undefinable, not a thing at all.
And I get to Sahaja Bangalore then I'll really be free. I don't know why but the silent presence and connection is the most beautiful thing. Rather, no conclusion seems to be of any value.

But I completely understand what you mean. You conveying that when you're not in satsang then you can feel like the messages from the mind, they seem to be much stronger. And that is why satsang is there for you from Monday to Friday.
Exposing a strong motion, the momentary freedom experience now in your presence is great but unless the momentum of the habitual mind is put to rest the freedom is not going to be permanent. You will continue to need vigilance for a long time to become truly rest without the presence of a master.
Yes, this motion is best surrender because even if it was true, which it isn't, but even if it was true it would make much more sense to settle into your motionlessness when to worry about this motion. Even if there was a choice that I can play with this motion or I can just be empty of motions, then you will make that choice to be empty of motions irrespective of whether this motion was true or not. Because if the momentum of the habitual mind is to be put to rest, the best time to do that is now, every now. I seem to hold the notion that identification with motion will feel yes, our notions of our motions can also be drawn my talismans.
So how about a really before we close satsang we spend a few minutes, even if initially we need to time ourselves, she even exists in this naturalness in a motionless existence.
