Saar (Essence)

Ananta guides seekers to stop searching for the unchanging Self in phenomenal objects, the body, or the intellect. He directs them to look within to the source of perception, revealing consciousness as our ever-present, unborn reality.

You cannot compute your way to God; the mind cannot have a concept of this.
Nothing was ever lost, nothing is being found. In your unlimited being, nothing is missing.
Go to the essence of your existence. Where does the looking come from?

Namaste everyone, a very warm welcome to Satsang. Satguru Sri Mooji Baba ki Jai. How's the audio? Okay, I know it's okay. Last time in chat, a seeker was here and he said something very interesting. He's been here a long time, you see. He said, 'If I look around, I don't find the person anywhere. This person gets all my belief, but if I look around, I don't see this person anywhere.' But how come we can't escape the same thing? Oh God, oh God. Also, we don't find... I look around, we also don't find God anywhere. And then he had these beautiful queries.

Ananta

But let's start with this one. Now, all of us are supposed to be spiritual seekers; that's why we are here in Satsang. So, as spiritual seekers, we must be seeking something. You must be seeking the Self, or the Truth, or God, or Satguru. So, let's use these words synonymously for a bit. But if I tell you, 'Go down to the runway and take the second left, then take the second left from there. Three hundred meters in, you will find God,' because I'm saying it, you might follow. But if somebody else told you, you would say, 'What is this?' So, whatever direction I can give you here in this realm, in this perceptible world, you know already that there is no such entity called God that you will find. So, we leave that question for later, whether everything that is perceptible is God anyway. We leave that for now.

Ananta

So, it means you can start by admitting that anything that I find through my sensory objects, sensory perception—you know that that is not God. Why? Because it is not timeless, it is not unchanging. These are attributes of the unchanging Self of all. So, then, if you can't find Him over there, where to find Him? If I cannot give you directions like, 'Okay, go twenty miles north, then thirty miles east, and there is God,' if you can't find an object like that, and you already know that 'I have searched and searched everywhere, but God or the Self is not to be found in that way,' so then how do you answer this question?

Ananta

Yes, I can find no person; that also I can see. All this sensory perception is gone. We can break it down. You can say, 'Okay, now put your mind and find the finger-top.' Wait for one glorious thought to come. That thought is gone. But you will say, 'But this thought comes and goes; it is not the unchanging, ever-present.' So, this thought is gone. Then I say, 'Okay, go to imagination and paint a very beautiful image of God.' And that is gone. Then also you'll say, 'But my attention moved to other things. This is just a visual; this is constantly changing.' I say, 'Put your memory and find Him in the past.' Something that we find over there, which is gone. And you can look at all your memories, all experiences, but we cannot find anything which is unchanging here just from the past.

Ananta

We looked at this world; we haven't yet looked at the body. If I say, 'Your big toe,' there is God? No. Something is starting to look at this. Let us go see. What is this? God must be everywhere, that's what you've been told. Is He present only in this part of the body? Only that body? I won't leave this body. That also doesn't make sense. Then you look at your thoughts, memory, imagination. Let me tell you, okay, if you tell me what was 578 into 765, in this moment you find out the answer is gone. Like 42 is gone. In something like that, is that not reason? Your way to God? You cannot use your intellect; you cannot compute your way to God.

So, you're done with the world, done with the body, then with this mind, with everything. So, where is God to be found? What is left for you to do? At some point, we have to stop playing this game because God is not to be found in many of these years of our existence. We are not finding Satguru or God. But is there something left? Is there some place left which we haven't looked yet? In this exercise, we looked at the world, the body parts, the intellect. You and many, many bodies, meaning the world, having many problems of experience. We have experienced many states, we have experienced, but not contained in any of the experiences is the unchanging, the timeless one.

Ananta

Now, we have to look in another direction. We have to look in another direction. Look in yourself. Who's there at the source of this perceiving itself? As you start looking in this field, you come to this point where you recognize this beautiful being, the very presence which I'm not saying 'I am.' 'I am' is a representation for its very existence. That is why I have an eye towards our target. Yes, I can show you far, but you have to try and stop me. And in a moment, you can have this revelation that this that is, this that is, is not a person, is not an entity, is not involved in time and space. It is the very light, the light of consciousness from which then all these appearances like waves come and play and recede back into your very being. This radiance is that which you have been searching for, because your Atma has remained unborn and undying.

Ananta

And this is why the sages have said that we looked and we looked everywhere, but within ourselves we have not looked. We went some place to play this Satsang to Satsang, but where is this God to be found? When you start looking within and you find this consciousness which you can never lose. And don't have this misunderstanding that when you're looking, you're looking inside your body. If you look inside the physical body, you won't find anything but flesh and blood. You have the capacity to look within yourself, which is much beyond this body. The body is just another appearance which will come and go. You look within yourself. Mind and intellect completely submerge in this being. There's nothing left to understand now, nothing left to resolve, nothing to fix. Yet there is no aversion to the activities of the world. This body and the world can continue. As my Master said, leave this existence to the existence of all of this. True existence itself. Nothing was ever lost, nothing is being found. All these notions now serve no purpose. All egotism, selfishness, that's all. Everything is taken care of. I am not really distressed here in your unlimited being. Nothing is missing, always done.

Ananta

Some of you will have to think, you have to decide that 'I am aware even of this being.' That this awareness who knows 'I am'—that you live in the coming and going of the waking state, but in this awareness, as you see yourself without politics, without the patterns of perception, there is no world. Only the culture... until he said of changing images, only material can hurt you in touch. Because there's the point of looking within that creates great confusion. What is the reference? You didn't hand it out; it's kept aside. East, West... yes, I was saying look in the direction north where the looking itself is coming from. And this might cause some confusion. This is admitted. In fact, it might even cause frustration because it is not something that the mind can do. The mind cannot have a concept of this. You cannot have a meaning for this. Yet, if it is followed with the innocence of a child, not trying to fathom it, not trying to even follow it, go to the source of your very perception. Go to the essence of your existence.

Ananta

These words are doing the work for you. You don't have to apply them; they are already atomic in nature. That is, looking: where does existence arise? What were you before you woke up this morning? Your very being knows. The frustrations that come, they must also come and leave themselves. Because as you grew up on this search in a phenomenal way, the idea of the unchanging being found as a phenomenal object—there is bound to be a lot of resistance from the person, meaning doubting that. Okay, we can make a deal and stop looking for the Truth in phenomenal objects. I will observe its spontaneous solution, meaning the true Self. Now, that which will come and go in everything that comes and goes, don't expect to find anything. The rest of it I will do. You like that? Are you big enough now? Enough.

Ananta

The idea of 'me,' the idea of 'mine,' the idea of 'world,' 'body,' 'mind'—all that is phenomenal. Don't make any distinctions about anything at all. I will remove the distinction. Let me not be available to time, space, objects, and past. Just in case it's feeling like, or something like you have lots of homework to do, know that in this moment all of this is done. This was all that is needed. You are the presence of your own existence, your own being, which is the most similar to the only one. All the manifestations are just a manifestation of your own being.

Ananta

My mind might come and say, 'So now what?' Then remember we said we were going to forget about all the phenomenal, and time is also phenomenal. Forget about 'now.' You are just the patient withdrawal symptoms on the day that you have. 'I need to know, I need to project into the future, I need to understand how my life will go.' If you allow this addiction to pass through you, you will come to a deeper Truth, not limited by the rules of time and space, the laws of physics, what can be and what cannot be. Very importantly, throw away your ideas of self-righteousness, because all our selfishness actually is hidden behind these ideas of self-righteousness. What do you feel you're right about? Forget about it, because it has nothing to do with the real you. This is all part of the movie character. We use these ideas to then color this movie character because the ego, the person, will be afraid to live naked for some time without these concepts. They have not shielded you from anything. They do. Become defenseless, become notionless.

Ananta

I'll give you a money-back guarantee. You remain defenseless for a week, and if it doesn't work out for you, I guarantee you I will give all your next lifetime a refund if you want. This is making light of the effect field. What will happen to most of us is that some notions will still come, they will get belief, we will identify, and then we will recognize that even this is causing nothing but misery or suffering. We were to be there. Shall we play these games? Something is getting in bind with you. But these ideas that have died from our time are not in service to my liberty, from far less selfishness to biggest selfishness.

Beloved Father, at times it seems that during negotiations for my business, it seems like all of this is coming from a space where there is no conflict. It could seem to the other party that you're being unreasonable, but that is not the case. Please work as per your liking.

Ananta

Yeah, so it's important, very good you brought this up, that I am not talking about the activities of the body—which words you might be speaking or what actions are coming. I'm speaking of the neutrality of your inner space. Because if you remain neutral in there, then you will find that there is no reason to take a position, because whatever has to unfold from this body will unfold anyway. If you find that there is something quote-unquote 'wrong' in this phenomenal world, then the body might respond to it from its own nature. Just like how does the body fight infection? Some germs attacking the body, the body acts. How? What you call antibodies. And suppose you had this idea that you had to do all of that? No, antibodies, the immune system, are something that you observe. So-called dynamics in this world, this movie, automatically play in the flow.

Ananta

Or you'll find out, in fact, what might happen—but you don't have to predict this—what might happen to some of you is that as you come to this place of neutrality, you might find your mouth saying things which are stronger than this. Something becomes more bold, or some might become just completely quiet. I'm not trying to have this phenomenal world, so I'm not predicting or trying to give you approaches to how to live the life of this body. I'm saying let it be lived by this holy presence which is already there before you pick up the idea that there is somebody here that can do individually, that can do any actions. So, all that you can even seemingly do is let go of any individualistic notions about yourself. To defenselessness or dropping self-righteousness is an attitude. There is great value in that. That's why I'm giving the money-back guarantee.

Ananta

This is whatever, just answer them. You know, in activity there may be neutrality. So, this is what all of us know, that we can smell it. You can just smell it where something is coming from. You can even sense, we can smell and see what is at the root of all of this and find just spaciousness, openness there. More bold. But if you find the sense of 'Oh, I am right while this one is wrong,' then I can tell you there is no such thing. Psychology says nothing in the world has inherent meaning. Nothing in the world has inherent meaning by itself; it is what we choose to put on it, impose upon it. There is nothing inherently good or bad, right or wrong. Even left or right, up or down, is that meaning that we have given to the world. All these things I just started to need to put it to the reference point about ourselves.

Ananta

Then some of these movies are funny. Americans make these kind of movies, where they switch bodies, when the father becomes the son, when the son becomes the father, and suddenly they are able to understand one another and they hang out. They give a better understanding because the reference point changes and you suddenly go, 'Oh, this was a switch.' So, but it also says sometimes that you look through as if you're looking from the other person's perspective. What do you find there? All these are just tips and tricks to see whether you're coming from a place of business or whether you meet me at that point that I have this one also. Don't know what you're going to do. Don't know what you're going to do because you're totally done.

Ananta

So, what it means is that don't pretend to know what you're going to do. Don't actually do anything at all. Be empty of all of this. We are outwardly in the midst of business negotiation. The very same intelligence which is making this world, the very same intelligence that has come up with all of this light, sound, gravity, memory, disease—all of these forces are here. By varying the winds like this, or analyzing molecules, you do this. But all distinction happens in the play of this world. Whatever happened in the movie is what happened in the movie. Thank you so much for being centered.
